Teenagers' obsession with YouTube is on the rise, with 93% of teens using the platform, 71% visiting it daily, and 16% being on the site "almost constantly," according to a 2023 survey by the Pew Research Center. Despite the risks, the allure of YouTube stardom has made "influencer" the new dream job for many young people.
BYD goes 📈
China's BYD has overtaken Tesla as the world's largest electric car company, with 525,409 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) sold in the final quarter of 2023, compared to Tesla's 484,507. This achievement is a symbol of China's rapidly growing electric vehicle (EV) industry. In 2023, BYD sold 1.57 million electric vehicles, up 73% from 2022, and 1.44 million hybrids.
Burger king likes your hangover 🥃
Burger King Brazil launched a marketing campaign called the Hangover Whopper, which uses facial recognition technology to scan a customer's face, detect their hangover level, and offer a discount accordingly. The campaign, created with creative agency DM9, aimed to sync up with holiday hangovers and allowed hangover selfies to be shared on social media.
US national debt hits record $34 trillion 🤯
The US national debt has exceeded $34 trillion for the first time, as per data published by the Treasury Department. The budget deficit, which is the variance between government spending and tax revenue, has contributed to this increase. Rising government debt burdens have raised concerns due to the rapid rise in interest rates, making it more expensive to service the debt.

Elon Musk's SpaceX has launched the first set of Starlink satellites capable of beaming signals directly to smartphones from space. This initiative is part of a deal struck between SpaceX and wireless carriers to provide network access to phone users in areas with poor coverage. T-Mobile US has confirmed that the satellites, carried on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, are now in low-Earth orbit. The service will initially offer text messaging, with voice and data capabilities to follow in the coming years.

Google is reportedly developing an advanced paid version of its chatbot AI, Bard, called "Bard Advanced." This version is expected to be available through a paid subscription to Google One. Australian researchers have developed an AI system called DeWave, which can translate silent thoughts from brain waves into text using an electroencephalogram (EEG) cap to record neural activity. The system achieved over 40% accuracy in early experiments and has the potential to enable communication for those unable to speak or type. Best part?
